Cellar for 15 years or more. It can benefit from decanting. The Bucella winery was founded in Napa Valley in 2002 by Bill and Alicia Deem. Their love for wine had been clear since 1990 when they shared a bottle of Gaja over their first date. This small winery is now widely known for its rich and intense wines produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Rhône varieties. The wine is made up of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from two hillside vineyards in the famous Hyde Vineyard, in Carneros, where yields are low, typically less than two tons per acre. The wine is aged for 18 months in 70% new French oak. It is a young, fresh, and accessible wine, despite having the typical richness and roundness of Merlot. Buccella Merlot is fresh and vibrant and has a deep and captivating color. The nose is dominated by seductive aromas of black cardamom, nutmeg, plum and blackberry, along with purple flowers such as violets and lavender, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is soft but powerful, savory, and structured, with flavors of raspberry jam and plum concentrate. In the end it remains with a long and intense flavor of red fruits. Try it with lamb, beef or aged Pecorino cheese.

Considered one of Georgia's most interesting emerging wineries, Tiko Estate is owned by the Chychynadze brothers who established it in 2017, giving it their mother's nickname as a tribute. The winery makes excellent Georgian wines in the Kakheti wine region, using indigenous vines which in this area benefit from iron-rich soils and a particularly favorable continental climate. Mtsvane is a rare white grape variety with an aromatic character, originally from Georgia. The grapes for this wine are harvested manually from vineyards located in the Kakheti region. After fermentation, which takes place in steel with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature, the finished wine is aged for 6 months in steel to preserve its natural freshness and perfumes. Tiko Estate's Mtsvane is a fragrant and lively white wine with bright color and a broad and fresh aromatic profile. On the nose, the wine reveals notes of white flowers, pear and apricot. On the palate, it is elegant and fruity with a marked mineral vein and a pronounced acidity. It is lively and well structured with a delicious, lingering finish that recalls notes of white pepper. It is excellent with seafood, goat cheese salads and Greek vegetarian recipes.

Domaine Yohan Lardy is an emerging winery located in Beaujolais that has quickly gained popularity and recognition for its production of elegant, natural wines offering excellent value. The estate covers approximately 7 hectares of vineyards, 2 of which are located in the prestigious Les Michelots parcel in the Moulin-a-Vent appellation. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced and selected from the organically farmed Les Bruyères vineyard, located approximately 150 meters above sea level on a plateau near the entrance to the village of Fleurie. Here, the vines enjoy a sunny position and a clay-loam soil that favors the full expression of the Chardonnay's aromas. After manual harvesting, the vinification takes place naturally and spontaneously, and the finished wine then ages on the lees for four months. In the glass, Beaujolais Blanc Les Bruyeres reveals a brilliant golden yellow color and a fragrant aromatic profile with notes of citrus, apple, and melon, followed by lightly toasted and buttery aromas, and hints of nutty fruit. On the palate, it is smooth, harmonious, and elegant, with good minerality and a balanced, refreshing acidity. The finish is medium-long and recalls delicate honeyed notes. Try it with grilled chicken or white fish.

It is an excellent expression of the Elgin terroir, which is located 40 km outside of Cape Town on the other side of the Hottentots-Holland Mountains to the world-renowned Stellenbosch region. Since its foundation in 1986, the family-run Paul Cluver Winery remains the benchmark producer of wine from the Elgin region. While the team is guided by husband and wife duo Paul and Songvei, a second generation of Cluvers is now firmly involved. Four of the five Cluver siblings are directly involved in the business. The region of Elgin was originally famous for its orchards, and that comes across on the palate of this wine. It is buttery yet crunchy and features delicious flavours of lemon, green apple, tropical fruits and brioche. The Elgin basin lies just 12 km from the ocean, so you can also find a refreshing tinge of salinity in every sip. The body of the wine is acidic and juicy with a smidgen of sweetness, but the tail is long and dry. Consider pairing this Chardonnay with shellfish and lemon, or a meaty white fish.

The domaine centres around the unique 2.23 hectare Clos de Quarts monopole in southern Pouilly‑Fuissé. Some vines in this beautiful walled vineyard date back to 1917 and sit on superb clay and limestone soils facing east. The excellent conditions are exactly why this terroir was designated Premier Cru in 2020. L’Orangerie du Clos des Quarts comes from a 0.48 hectare plot planted right next to a historic orangery that was built in 1857. The Chardonnay vines are farmed organically and harvested by hand to ensure optimal quality. In the vineyard there’s a light touch with fermentation and ageing in used oak barrels and a further six months in stainless steel tanks. Bottles are just lightly filtered and unfined to avoid interfering with the natural beauty of the fruit. Fine toasty notes and intense aromas of ripe orchard fruit and zingy citrus dominate on the palate, with hints of almonds and a salivating acidity on the long finish. There’s a pleasing balance between freshness and voluptuous fruit, with a solid full body and rich texture. A great wine for roast chicken, seafood risotto, or creamy pasta dishes.

It is made from 100% Chardonnay, from the Longeroies vineyard – a name that means “long and narrow”, it being one of Marsannay’s largest vineyards. With regards to the Longeroies Rouge, this wine is another side to the same coin – it is packed with sun-baked fruits, dry undergrowth, and great depth of flavour. The Fournier’s are a winemaking family with a rich heritage in the Marsannay region, with a recorded history dating back to the 17th century. The modern winery was founded in 1962 by Jean Fournier and is continued today by his son, Laurent, who has ushered in an age of organic cultivation and minimal intervention. This wine is deep and velvety on the palate mirroring its golden colour. You can discover luscious flavours of ripe green apple, toasted nuts, pear, lemon curd, and acacia. Its creamy side is balanced out by an elegant vein of acidity, which drives the experience into a mineral-laden finish. This is an excellent Marsannay white, perfect for pairing with summery salads, seafood, or poultry.

The historic Tchotiashvili Winery is one of the oldest wineries still operating in Georgia and is considered to be among the most prestigious producers. Their history dates back to the 18th century, and today the company blends traditional Georgian winemaking methods with the most modern cellar techniques, making the most of the great potential of this territory and of the regional ampelographic heritage. This wine is produced from one of the best local white berries, Rkatsiteli, from nearly 50-year-old vineyards on the bank of the Alazani River, at an altitude of 500m. All the vinification and aging take place inside the Qvevri, the traditional terracotta containers. It is a complex and structured wine, capable of expressing rare and ancestral sensations. The wine is golden in color with bright amber reflections. The nose is expressive with intense notes of apricot and candied fruit and hints of honey and hazelnut. In the mouth, it has a full-body with a savory backbone, delicate tannins, and lively acidity. It shows excellent persistence. It is a fairly important wine, perfect to accompany fish or white meat main courses, but it is spectacular with spiced chicken, and in general with poultry and vegetarian dishes of oriental cuisine.
