Product description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Jim Barry founded his renowned winery in Clare Valley, Australia, in 1959, quickly gaining popularity for his excellent, award-winning red and white wines. In addition to 320 hectares of vineyards in the Clare Valley, the company now also owns approximately 14 hectares in Coonawarra, producing a diverse range of wines. Located on the eastern slopes of the Clare Valley, the Lodge Hill vineyard was purchased by Jim Barry in 1977, initially to plant Riesling, but in 1979, he also planted Shiraz, which, with low yields, produces exceptional results. Here, the vines are rooted in well-drained soils, rich in dark loam, on nearly vertical rock strata. In the glass, the wine reveals a deep, intense color with purplish hues. Its aromatic profile is complex and broad, with notes of dark forest fruits and plum, followed by hints of violet, spice, and pepper. On the palate, it is concentrated and juicy, rich and bold, with good structure and smooth tannins. The finish is long and layered. Try it with slow-cooked lamb shank, venison stew, or beef brisket to enhance the smoky notes and juiciness of the meat.
